There was this group of students in my high school that acted to the point of cruelty that the teachers in the article had done to their students. There was a Mexican individual at our school who had transferred from a school down in Mexico and he knew coming to a new totally different school in the States would be a life changing event. This group of guys never accepted him from the start before they even got to know him. They would criticize his accent thinking that everyone should sound English. They would constantly push him around when they didn't even get to know the individual. I met him straight forward and tried to make him feel at home. I warned him about those certain individuals, and I told him that he should ignore them. This individual became one of my closest friends because I didn't shut him down, I got to know him and his culture which I thought were really interesting. We need to learn to not shut people down based on looks and how one might speak. We will never unite as one with accepting the values of everyone and getting to know them.
